Trauma can leave people feeling broken and burdened by their past.
Many people experiencing Trauma & P-TSD can feel like they are going round in circles, repeating negative emotions.
Perhaps you can relate.
Maybe your days start to blur together or you have recurring thoughts, flashbacks, or nightmares about things that have happened in your past.
Stuck in negativity and feeling broken, you may feel like life is spent constantly feeling "on edge".
Do You Feel Panicky, Ashamed, Hopeless?
Do any of the following resonate with you?
You are plagued by distressing nightmares, flashbacks, or recurring thoughts of the past.
You feel guilty or ashamed about things that have happened to you.
You often feel jumpy, irritable, or reactive.
You experience sudden and unexpected surges of emotions where you feel overwhelmed or out-of-control.
You find yourself feeling unsafe or restless, even in situations where you would expect to feel calm/relaxing.
If these sound true for you, I want you to know that even though you might feel like a failure for needing help, that couldn't be further from the truth. It takes courage to become aware about what you are going through and ask for help. You don’t have to keep putting yourself last, caring for everyone else before you take care of yourself

Our work together in in therapy consists of 50-minute, one-on-one sessions that help you heal, learn, and grow.
In addition to listening, I will share what the science tells us about what's going on for you and utilize evidence-based trauma interventions to support your healing process (such as EMDR, IFS, and Somatic).
Here’s how it will work step-by-step:
1. First, I provide a safe, accepting space so that you will feel comfortable sharing your struggles with me.
2. Through hearing your story, I will start to get a picture of what your challenges are.
3. We will start with helping you with immediate concerns like managing difficult emotions and challenging life situations.
4. We will also work to discover what your goals are in therapy and in life.
5. Keeping your unique goals in mind, we’ll figure out what’s needed to help you reach them.
7. Over the course of our sessions, you will start making progress towards the life you desire. This is a general outline, so please keep in mind that your therapy is unique to you!

Many of my trainings are specifically angled towards supporting folks in healing from trauma, such as:

EMDR
Parts Work (Internal Family Systems)
Narrative Therapy
Having said that, I do not take a one-size-fits-all approach to any aspect of your treatment, including the modalities.

Many of my clients have had previous therapy experiences and come to me with some preferences on modalities.
If my clients have preferences, that is my primary priority. I never require that people participate in therapeutic interventions if they aren’t ready or desiring that type of approach.
Having said that, I do often recommend EMDR to my clients who are open to it, since it has an excellent efficacy in supporting folks in decreasing trauma-related symptoms.

As someone who has lived through trauma personally, I absolutely understand that it can be terrifying to consider talking about the specifics and going through the play-by-play of your traumatic experiences.
While many folks can find benefit from sharing their story, please know that your story is YOURS alone to share. I never require that clients divulge all of their trauma in our initial appointments.
Trust is something that is built over time. I feel very capable of earning your trust, so please don’t feel like you need to trust me before we’ve even met.
While it is my commitment to be a tender and loving Keeper of Stories, I also know that sometimes there are moments that we never want to verbalize fully.
Somatic Counseling & EMDR are two modalities that do not require you to explicitly share your story verbally to be able to heal & move forward from what happened.
